Ryobi 40V Power Snow Shovels

Ryobi 40V HP Snow Solutions Continue to Expand With Power Snow Shovels

Ryobi has an entire line of cordless snow cleanup solutions for the 40V battery platform. We’ve already covered Ryobi 40V Snow Blowers, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t finish out looking at the rest of the lineup. This includes two battery-powered snow shovels. When you don’t have to break out the “big guns” for heavy-duty snow removal, Ryobi 40V Power Snow Shovels look designed to tackle lighter cleanup on driveways, sidewalks, and decks.

Ryobi 40V HP Brushless 12″ Power Snow Shovel

Using the Ryobi 40V HP technology, the RY408120VNM offers you the ability to clear a 12″ path up to 6″ deep. The brushless motor can chuck snow up to 25-feet—far more than I ever could with a manual shovel! For what you get, this 40V battery-powered snow shovel looks like a fairly lightweight solution for clearing your snowy walkways without wearing out your back.

The Ryobi 40V HP 12″ Power Snow Shovel features a 2-speed switch and a variable speed trigger to give you control over your work, while a 180º lock/unlock coupler lets you customize the shovel to your needs even further. Compatible with the rest of Ryobi’s Expand-It attachment capable tools, you can move on to yard work once the snow melts.

We haven’t heard any firm information on what to expect in terms of retail prices, but we do expect it to hit the shelves of your local Home Depot sometime this fall. The current model retails for around $266 as a kit. The Ryobi RY408120VNM will come with a 4.0Ah battery, charger, and 5-year warranty.

Ryobi 40V 12″ Power Snow Shovel

Effectively, the only difference between this Power Snow Shovel and the aforementioned one is that this model leaves off the HP designation, and opts for the brushed motor. It still clears a 12″ x 6″ path for you, though you’ll only lose about three feet of maximum throwing power.

Beyond that seemingly trivial detail, and the lack of a two-speed selection switch, the RY408110VNM looks almost just like the HP Brushless model. It has a variable speed trigger and the 180º lock/unlock coupler for better control over what you’re clearing. And it also comes attachment-capable as part of the Expand-It lineup.

You’ll be able to pick the Ryobi 40V 12″ power Snow Shovel at the Home Depot this fall as well, though we still haven’t received word yet on the exact retail price. It will come with a 4.0Ah battery and 40V charger, as well as a 5-year warranty on the tool.
