Chances are you’ve come across a Tanos Systainer at some point if you’re a professional contractor or even in the medical field. Festool Systainers come standard with the majority of Festool’s products, for example. Makita, Mafell, Metabo, Bessey, Fein, and many other brands work with Tanos for their storage options as well.
But what exactly is a Systainer? The clue is in the name—it’s a container designed to work as a system. More than simply an interlocking high-quality ABS box, these toolboxes are very intentionally designed to help you store, transport, protect, and access your tools and gear efficiently.
That said, the interlocking feature of the system is one of the major highlights. The T-Loc catch secures the lid in one position and rotates to lock both the lid and another Systainer above it. Rotate it a little further and you keep the top Systainer attached while you access the contents of the one you need.
Then there’s the shape of the boxes themselves. With a design that keeps the latches and handles flush or recessed into the flat sides, these are very easy to store on the floor, on shelves, and side-by-side. When you’re dealing with a hodgepodge of different boxes, it’s tough to stack them efficiently. Sometimes, the top or base shapes make them darn near impossible to stack without leaning one way or another. You won’t run into that with Tanos Systainers.
They’re not all just different sizes of the same box, either. You’ll notice some have handles on the front while others place them on the top. It’s all about matching the exterior of the design to the practicality of the internal design.
When you get to the inside of each box things get even more organized. There are bulk storage options, drawers, fold-out storage, bulk inserts, segmented storage, and more. Brands such as Festool even create custom foam or plastic inserts specifically for the tool they’re carrying.
In addition to the Systainer boxes themselves, Tanos makes a wide variety of sets, accessories, bottom and lid inserts, labeling options, and even spare parts.
Tanos Systainer T-Loc System Overview
Mini-Systainer T-Loc
The Mini-Systainer T-Loc I comes in a small size that, with the right inserts, looks perfect for housing smaller tools, bits, and fasteners. It comes in a few configurations for you to choose from: with 6 containers, with 3 compartments, or blank so that you can organize it to your liking. You can also choose a Mini-Systainer T-Loc I with a transparent lid.
- Mini-Systainer T-Loc I: 71mm height x 265mm width x 171mm depth (2.8 x 10.43 x 6.73 in.)
- Mini-Systainer T-Loc I w/Transparent Lid: 71mm height x 265mm width x 171mm depth (2.8 x 10.43 x 6.73 in.)
- Mini-Systainer T-Loc III: 142mm height x 265mm width x 171mm depth (5.59 x 10.43 x 6.73 in.)
Systainer T-Loc Sys Combi
The Tanos Systainer T-Loc Sys Combi boxes are both stackable and linkable with both the classic line and T-Loc systainers. Both feature a drawer at the bottom with tool storage at the top. The difference between the II and the III models comes down to size.
- Sys-Combi II: 127.5 mm H x 383 mm W x 267 mm D (5.02 x 15.08 x 10.51 in.)
- Sys-Combi III: 315 mm H x 396 mm W x 296 mm D (12.4 x 15.59 x 11.65 in.)
Sortainer T-Loc Sys-Sort IV
The Tanos Sortainer T-Loc Sys-Sort IV box features 3 drawers, each with two adjustable dividers. This gives you some flexibility with how you go about storing things, and it keeps your small parts from mixing.
- Sortainer T-Loc Sys-Sort IV: 315 mm H x 396 mm W x 296 mm D (12.4 x 15.59 x 11.65 in.)
Systainer Tool-Box
Available in two sizes, the Systainer Tool-Box has an open top with a handle in the middle. Because of their open design, these are appropriate for connecting to the top of your Tanos Systainer stack when they’re full. Or you can stack another Systainer on top of them with the side lock rather than the T-Loc if their contents are below the lip.
- Tool-Box 1: 143mm height x 396mm length x 296mm depth (5.63 x 15.59 x 11.65 in)
- Tool-Box 2: 250mm height x 396mm length x 296mm depth (9.84 x 15.59 x 11.65 in)
Systainer Storage-Box
Made to perch atop a taller Systainer, the storage box looks and operates similarly to the tacklebox you get to use when the weekend finally rolls around. It folds outward from the top to give unfettered access to all of the contents at once, and it’s a fit for an assortment of hand tools, fasteners, and bits.
- Systainer Storage-Box: 233 mm H x 396 mm W x 296 mm D (9.17 x 15.59 x 11.65 in.)
