Uncharted Supply Co Athena Jump Starter Review

Jump Start Gas or Diesel Engines Up To 6.0L Without Needing a Second Vehicle with the Uncharted Supply Co Athena Jump Starter

No matter what kind of vehicle you drive, there’s going to come a time when the battery doesn’t have enough juice to get you going. While EV owners have to deal with that differently, gas and diesel vehicles can take advantage of the Uncharted Supply Co Athena Jump Starter.

Using the Uncharted Supply Co Athena Jump Starter

In terms of capacity, the Athena can help you get any gas or diesel engine started up to 6.0 liters that use a 12V battery. With the built-in 16000mAh lithium battery, you can get as many as 15 jumps out of one charge.

The thing to remember is that jump starters like this can’t fully replace your vehicle’s battery. They give it a boost to bridge the gap between what your failing battery can still deliver and what the vehicle needs. In other words, don’t assume you can keep a dead battery indefinitely. Use the Athena to keep you starting until you can get to the store for a replacement battery.

Using the jump starter is a piece of cake:

  • Insert the plug into the battery pack
  • Connect the jaw clamps black to negative and red to positive on your battery terminals
  • Start your vehicle

If the engine doesn’t start, disconnect the jump starter, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect it.

If it still doesn’t start after three attempts, connect it to the battery, press and hold the Force Start Button (on the underside of the connection plug), and try again.

There’s an LED battery indicator on to help you out. Here’s how to interpret it:

  • Flashing green: charge the Athena’s battery
  • Alternating green and red: you’re good to proceed
  • Red: error (often a reversed connection to your car battery)

Bonus Features

USB Ports

As long as you’re going to have a lithium battery in your vehicle, it might as well have some extra functions since you don’t need to jump-start your battery every day. You don’t need to have the cable connected to use any of the bonus features.

The Athena has a built-in LED flashlight. Just press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it on. Give it a short press to cycle through steady, SOS, and flashing modes. Long press again to turn the light off.

You can also use the battery as a power supply. There are 2 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports behind the cover where you plug the jumper cables in. To activate them, press the power button.

Keep in mind that as you’re using these additional features, you’re drawing down the battery. Be sure to charge it back up so it has the power to start your vehicle when you need it.

The retail price for the Athena is $139. You can order it directly from Uncharted Supply or a variety of online retailers. It comes with a foam-padded soft case with separate sections for the battery and cables.

The Bottom Line

The Uncharted Supply Co Athena Jump Starter is a must-have accessory for car owners. Whether it’s the cold weather making things tougher or the hot weather reducing your battery life, you’re going to need a jump at some point. The Athena eliminates the need to get a second vehicle involved while offering bonus functions as a power bank and flashlight. The only real limitation is that it’s for 6.0L engines and under. If you have a bigger engine, check out Uncharted Supply’s Zeus Pro which has the capacity to jump engines up to 8.0L.
