HART 20V Hybrid Tripod Light Review

HART Adds A Versatile Hybrid Tripod Light To Their 20V Lineup!

Around here, we love our LED Work Lights. They allow you to cast a lot of light from a variety of positions and pivoting heads let us direct the light where it’s needed most. The HART Tripod Light looks like it fits right in with other popular models we’ve tested. We’ve been putting it to use here at our shop so we can help you decide if it’s a good fit for you.

HART Tripod Light Performance

  • Light Output: 800/2700 lumens
  • Runtime: 10 hrs (low), 3 hrs (high)

HART’s 20V tripod light utilizes a single LED panel and offers up to 2,700 lumens. That’s a pretty decent amount of light considering its size.

The head pivots up to 270°. The pivoting range allows you to direct light from a 90° angle outward to a nearly 45° angle downward in the opposite direction. Additionally, its collapsable design allows you to fold the arm down so the light shines upward from ground level. This lets it pull double-duty as an area light as well as

The light’s color temperature is just a touch to the yellow side of the spectrum. It’s what we tend to prefer in a work light as opposed to a bright white or slight blue because we can see colors more accurately.

HART Tripod Light

In terms of runtime, HART says you can expect up to 10 hours of continuous runtime on Low with a 4.0Ah battery. We tested the light at full power with a standard 4.0Ah battery and got 3 hours and 5 minutes out of it. With about 10 minutes remaining, the light flashed to indicate low battery. That kind of runtime is right on par with what we expect from this level of light output.

HART Tripod Light Design Notes

HART Tripod Light
  • Model: HART HPWL05
  • Power Source: HART 20V battery, 120V AC
  • Max Height: 5 ft.
  • Power Cord Length: 4 ft.
  • Weight: 6.5 lbs. (bare), 7.9 lbs. (with 4.0Ah battery)

HART designed this light with the added convenience of a hybrid power option. If you do have access to an AC power source, HART includes a 4-foot extension cord so you won’t have to worry about battery life. Keep in mind that any standard extension cord will work if you need a little more reach.

The controls are about as easy as it gets. There is a single power button on the carrying handle that controls the brightness.

HART’s folding design and lightweight construction add to its overall convenience. As a bare tool, the HART HPWL05 weighs 6.5 pounds, and adding a 4.0Ah battery brings it up to 7.9 pounds. This light goes from standing 62 inches tall and folds down to a very compact 25-1/4 inches long. That size is perfect for when space is at a premium.

The setup is pretty easy. Start by rotating the legs from their nested position until they reach a positive stop. As it sits, you can use it to cast light under a sink or even under a vehicle while you’re performing maintenance. For use as an area light, simply press the release button on the hinge to fold the boom upright. From there you can direct the light wherever you need it.

Additional Features

  • Two tether points on the main handle for use with a shoulder strap
  • Textured rubber overmold grip
