Ridgid 18V Right Angle Impact Wrench

Ridgid Adds Right-Angle Impact Wrench to Its Subcompact Brushless Lineup

Ridgid has quite the spread when it comes to fastening tools, and impact wrenches are among the most commonly used in the brand’s lineup. The problem with the normal impact wrench design is that they can be pretty bulky which can make it hard to get into tight areas like engine bays. To help alleviate this pain point, Ridgid is introducing the 18V Right Angle Impact Wrench and we’re looking at where it stands in the lineup.

Ridgid 18V Right Angle Impact Wrench Performance

  • Model: Ridgid R8720B (3/8-inch); Ridgid R8721B (1/2-inch)
  • Up to 250 ft-lbs of breakaway torque
  • Brushless motor
  • 3 speeds
  • Max speed: 3200 RPM
  • Max impact rate: 3800 IPM
  • Variable speed trigger
  • Auto-tightening mode prevents over-tightening
  • Reverse auto-tightening delivers full breakaway torque and stops when the bolt is loose

The R8720B and R8721B right-angle impact wrenches feature 3/8-inch and 1/2-inch drives, respectively. Both sizes have the same performance specs, with up to 250 ft-lbs of breakaway torque thanks to their brushless motor.

For speeds, this tool achieves up to 3200 RPM, with three speed settings to choose from. A variable speed trigger also lets you dial in your speeds even further for the application at hand. At the top end, this Ridgid impact wrench sees impact rates up to 3800 IPM.

Additionally, an auto-tightening mode automatically stops rotation to prevent the over-tightening of bolts. It also works in reverse, delivering the full breakaway torque and then automatically stopping once the bolt is loosened.
